Who are your most valuable clients? How are you prioritizing them? In business, just like in any aspect of your life, resources are finite. Specifically, the one finite resource that nobody can capture more of is time. We all have the same 24 hours in a day.
Hence, there will always be the need to prioritize. Especially when it comes to serving your clients. It makes sense that you’d want to determine which clients are most valuable to your business. Then, when the clock is ticking, be sure to get those clients taken care of first.
There are two basic ways to prioritize your accounts. The first method is the most obvious one. Simply prioritize the accounts that produce the greatest amount of revenue. From a financial perspective, these are your most important clients.
The second method for prioritizing is forward-looking. Consider which accounts are potential referral partners. Although a client may not present a large amount of capital to your business, they may be very valuable in terms of their contacts and potential referral business.
At the end of the day, it’s best to service each client to the best of your abilities. However, there are times when you will have to prioritize what gets done and when. Know how to handle this situation – and prosper!
